Robert Johr, M.D.

Dr. Johr joined Family  Dermatology after relocating from Boca Raton, FL, where he had been in solo private practice for many years. Dr. Johr completed his dermatology residency at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY and at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH. While in private practice, he also held appointments as Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Miami, where he was also Director of the Pigmented Lesion Clinic for twenty years. 

Dr. Johr’s main areas of interest are in the diagnosis and treatment of atypical moles and skin cancer. He has extensive expertise in dermoscopy and digital dermoscopy, which can greatly improve the accurate diagnosis of worrisome skin lesions. He has authored two books on dermoscopy and continues to lecture nationally and internationally on the topic.

Dr. Johr and his wife moved to Chapel Hill to be closer to his family and grandchildren. His hobbies include skiing, surfing, and golf, and he is a third-degree black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate. Dr. Johr is also fluent in Spanish and German.
